Jon is a climate and development finance expert, with 10 years of experience across climate change mitigation and adaptation. He has broad experience across sustainable finance, including insurance and debt instruments in Sub-Saharan Africa. He has provided direct support to national governments across Africa and the Caribbean in their climate fund access. Jon has extensive professional experience working with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and has supported National Designated Authorities and Accredited Entities with their country programme development, readiness support and project development. Jon’s PhD was an in-depth study of GCF project development in South Africa, including a specific focus on the private sector facility and how this intersects with national just transition processes. Jon is broadly interested in socio-economic and energy transitions, with an emphasis on making these inclusive and nature-positive.
